This month, Urban Gypsy Styled is our top choice to feature. We have been in constant contact with their two designers Alisha and Cynthia. 

We did a short interview and below are their answers...

Why did you choose Walls Republic for your wallpaper needs? 

"We chose Walls Republic because of the wide variety of bright colors and large-scale bold patterns we don’t see many other places. We are always so impressed!"

What do you think sets Walls Republic apart from other wallpaper suppliers? 

"What sets Walls Republic apart is not only the price point but how many gorgeous options are offered, and they seem to always have new options every time we shop."

Could you share a specific project where Walls Republic wallpapers played a significant role in achieving your design vision? 

"A primary bedroom we just completed; Our client wanted it to feel sexy and moody but also colorful. With Walls Republic, we nailed it."

How do you incorporate wallpaper into your design process, and what role does it play in your creative vision?

"In a lot of cases, we start our color palette with wallpaper. Using wallpaper on a single wall (or more) can create a focal point in a room, drawing attention and adding interest without overwhelming the space. We love using wallpaper to highlight specific areas like alcoves, niches, or architectural features, emphasizing these interesting elements creates uniqueness that we love!"

What advice or tips would you offer to fellow interior designers when it comes to selecting and using wallpaper effectively in their projects?

"Don’t be afraid to use color but understand the space you’re designing for.
Consider the purpose of the room. For example, choose soothing patterns and colors for bedrooms and more vibrant, dynamic designs for living rooms or dining areas. In smaller rooms (or bathrooms), opt for lighter colors and smaller patterns to make the space appear larger. In larger rooms, bold patterns and darker colors can create a cozy atmosphere. Using wallpaper on a single wall creates a focal point without overwhelming the space. This works well behind beds, sofas, or in dining areas."

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Can you share a design trend you're currently excited about?

"We find inspiration while traveling - We love to visit different places to explore architectural styles and local craftsmanship. Each destination offers unique inspiration. We both also LOVE ART! Art can provide fresh perspectives and inspire color schemes and motifs. Lastly, antique and vintage goods never fail when it comes to finding inspiration."

What role do colors play in your design process?

"Colors play a crucial role in the interior design process, impacting the aesthetics, functionality, and emotional atmosphere. Of course it is very client specific! We are always so impressed with how colors evoke specific emotions and moods subconsciously. We LOVE color and believe that neutrals are going out - colors are going to make a comeback!"
