Peel & Stick Wallpaper
Peel & Stick wallpaper is self-adhesive and does not require paste. For best results, install it on a smooth, clean, dry, and properly prepared wall. Avoid applying it over existing wallpaper or heavily textured surfaces, as this can affect adhesion. Panels can be repositioned during installation to help with alignment and pattern matching.
Residential Wallpaper
Walls Republic residential wallpapers have a non-woven backing and use a paste-the-wall installation method. Before installation, make sure the wall is clean, dry, sound, and free of stains or loose paint, and confirm that all rolls have the same reference and batch numbers. Apply an adhesive suitable for non-woven wallpaper directly to the wall, working one section at a time before hanging and aligning each strip.
Grasscloth Wallpaper
Grasscloth and other natural wallcoverings require special handling. Because they are handcrafted from natural fibers and materials, slight variations in weave, texture, and color are expected and should not be considered defects. Before installation, confirm that all materials are from the same run or lot and inspect them for color consistency. Walls should be clean, smooth, dry, firm, uniformly colored, and primed with a quality wallpaper primer. Use a heavy-duty, clear, pre-mixed adhesive with low water content, applying the adhesive evenly to the wall rather than to the wallcovering. Avoid getting adhesive on the face or edges, and use gentle pressure when smoothing the material. Walls Republic also advises checking the installation carefully before proceeding beyond the first two strips.
Wall Murals
Before installing a mural, confirm that all panels are present and free from imperfections. Murals should not be installed over existing wallpaper or pre-trimmed before hanging. Prepare the wall, establish your measurements and reference lines, and arrange the panels in the correct sequence before beginning. Apply a medium- to heavy-weight pre-mixed wallcovering paste directly to the wall, then install the panels in order using tight butt joints without overlapping them. Check the pattern, color, and alignment after the first three panels before continuing.
Commercial Wallpaper
Walls Republic recommends professional installation for commercial wallcoverings because of their heavier materials and larger scale. Walls should be smooth, solid, dry, properly primed, and free of conditions such as excess moisture, mold, or mildew before installation. Confirm the pattern, color, quantity, and batch number before hanging. Apply the appropriate paste directly to the wall and follow the recommended seam method for the specific wallcovering; non-woven commercial wallcoverings should be butt joined rather than overlapped. Check the appearance after the first three drops before proceeding with the remainder of the installation.

What is the difference between a single roll and a double roll?
The term “single roll” and “double roll” strictly refers to the size of the wallpaper roll itself, not how many rolls you are getting. A single wallpaper roll and double wallpaper roll are both just one roll of wallpaper, with a double roll being a longer length than a single roll. In other words, two single rolls = one double roll.
The standard double roll wallpaper size is 20.8” wide x 33’ long. However, sometimes the roll size differs a bit depending on the manufacturer. You should always refer to the dimensions of the wallpaper roll on the product page before purchasing.
What prices am I seeing on the Walls Republic website?
At Walls Republic, we like to provide our clients with consistent information and a smooth shopping experience. This means we both price and sell our residential wallpaper in double rolls. This eliminates any confusion or surprises when it comes to purchasing your wallpaper. When you add a wallpaper roll to your cart, you are adding one double roll of wallpaper. None of our products are priced or sold in single rolls.
Most other retailers price in single rolls but sell in double rolls. This leads the customer to think that the price is lower than it actually is. When they get to the checkout, they are forced to order wallpaper in multiples of 2, which doubles the price and creates a confusing and frustrating experience. At Walls Republic, we only price and sell in double rolls.
